My sister lives in Victoria and keeps sending me pictures of her blooming flowers. Living in Manitoba I don't get the beauty of blooming flowers outside just yet, so I had to find my own "spring" (thank you flower store!)

Phoenix
My husband and I took a vacation to Phoenix and enjoyed the heat and different landscape! It was a wonderful break from our Manitoba winter and snow.
More pictures to come!!!!

Winter in Manitoba doesn't make for a great variety of photography....lots of white! So I have been playing with still life photography. Just simple things that I can find in the house. But I have learned a lot about lighting indoors (don't worry I won't bore you with all that stuff!) Here is a taste.
I also have been learning more in my photo editing program (I use photoshop elements) and created the effect on this picture.

A few years ago we visited the Vancouver Aquarium with friends. Our daughter and her friend were so excited and loved to stand at the glass and watch the fish swim by. My husband (who has a good eye with the camera!) snapped this amazing picture. I must admit it is one of my favorite pictures and I really wish I had taken it! haha It captures a calm excitement of the kids and without showing their faces or eyes you can sense their intense gaze.
This picture inspired me to play with silhouettes. I took a photography class a few months ago and one of our assignments was to try out a silhouette picture. I had a hard time with it being winter and the lack of good sunlight. One day as I was just about the leave the house I was turning off all the lights and noticed our cat. It was perfect! I love the detail of the hair on her ears and that you can see her whiskers!

Prairie Sunset
Many people are hard on the prairies, complaining of the flat landscape. But the view of the sky is unlike any other making for some stunning sunsets. Pictures can hardly do the beautiful colours justice, but I did my best to capture it.
